My pleasure
I had a pinched nerve, herniated disc, L4\L5 and could bend over but not stand up straight without severe pain. I asked my therapist if an inversion table would help and he said only if I could lay on my stomach. Otherwise it would make it worse. Bending my spine forward released the pressure on the nerve and bending back increased the pressure on it. I listened to him and waited until I had no pain for a month or so and picked up a lightly used Teeter Fit Spine 3 for $100 as a preventative measure. I only go to 60 degrees for 5 minutes or so and it really helps my spines flexibility. Check with a therapist before using one if you're currently in pain as it's not good for every back problem!

I just bought this and use this for the very first time for 6 minutes after I use it couple hours it make my back hurt more is that normal?
It's worth checking you put it in the right place, but also a couple of hours later seems like its more likely something else you're doing

I saw a PT telling people to shift their pelvis forward, when doing ab exercises and even when walking, to take pressure off the disk. Wouldn't that mess up your posture, causing more problems? Or would the forward shift help?
That sounds strange to be honest, it would perhaps give you a sway back posture which is not good.

Thank you, a very good presentation. Looking forward to doing these exercises. Didn't quite understand the chest pop (?). Is it just lifting up your chest, or do you actually hear a pop as when some people 'pop' their back?
ITs a pleasure :) the chest pop shouldn't have any poping its more an action of elevating the chest out in front and bracing the muscles of the back :)

Cold will restrict blood flow. Do you want heat for blood flow to heal discs faster?
I have had a bad back for 5 years, yesterday i treid to some physio which just made it worse. Do you suggest ice or heat for this? I'm not sure, because although I've had a bad back for years, whats made it really bad is something new. Thanks

Actually this is the first day I can reach my toes again after 1,5 yrs. Well there was a few times I actually managed to just align it, please nobody ever go there, I have a special brain condition and actually for me the solution was learning about myself, most people I encountered never ever believed me, but yeah if u have the time support money and the luck of being able to trust in yourself and god, it takes very strong will but it’s possible, I can sit here and show u scoliosis on my spine then reverse it the only thing freaky about it really is it looks like a demon would possess me for a moment but besides that, it’s actually just focusing 100% on yourself and only recording the surroundings until it’s safe to make unaccounted movements, reconfiguring all the muscles it just looks pretty weird standing there using half of your body to stabilize and half to reconfigure the pattern in which I can move, it’s taxing but I’ve always been quite flexible so I hope I get away with it healthy. The only ones that actually believed I was in control were monks and quite expensive private doctors, society stamps u as done, I went to the spa daily, did floating, shiatsu, neurostim, drugs like ketamine, drank lots and lots of healthy teas.
Sometimes if something was still missing aligned I just waited and wished for the position I would need to be in and it worked for me. Most of it was also letting go of stress, staying calm, actually learning to meditate and control my brain, making plans overcoming trauma, making allies, it was a crazy hustle.
They hurt and most can't reach.
With that exercise you're only goint to tense more your psoas and increase your pain. Thats absolutely incorrect if you have some kind of previous condition in your spine.
Thanks for your comment, we can assure you that it does not when done properly. It certainly will not be exerting more force than the load of the torso on the spine in the standing position.

Interesting I'm kind of against belly breathing and cue lateral thoracic breathing with my clients teaching them through points of contact to feel and understand neutral spine! but I get what you say engaging those deep abdominals via exhalation and those last three breaths pushing the air out is effective. I'm no fan of pelvic tilts and through experience with clients with lower back pain especially disc problems it is something that they dont want to be doing. Matt the pilates teacher

It's a pleasure, personally i like having the legs bent - definitely best when you. first start it, but some people find that they like it with the legs straight too - just know if you have some L5/S1 issues, it can be less pleasant with the legs straight.

Do know that it varies in terms of the scale of this and so it's not a binary on/off thing - chances are that it is less severe but working on posture and how you hold yourself is really important! :) it will help you in the long run!

Great video, hopefully gonna start this routine soon. I have always had that bump but off lately has been giving trouble, while I am conciously going to try keep the posture correct, do you suggest any change in daily sleeping postures too? Should I eliminate using pillows completely, would that help?
I think a great tool to look at would be the neck cloud - we have a video on this, i don't think removing pillows is the answer really. But do try this and see how you find it!

I don't normally like doing gym on the same day AFTER treatment but the day after is fair game :) (obviously your workout needs to be correct but that's another thig)
